Albert and Pearl Benjamin Foundation, Inc. (APBF) is a global education non-profit organization striving to unite people to challenge generational poverty. Generational poverty is a term to describe a family that has been considered impoverished for two or more generations. Families stuck in the cycle of generational poverty often have many commonalities, including illiteracy, lack of land ownership, lack of education, and lack of job stability.
We believe that in every school and every community, there are individuals who have untapped potential. Poverty is the predominant factor that separates the haves from the have-nots. Some individuals would like to improve their community but may lack the necessities such as training, opportunity, and financial resources. These are just a few things that prevent them from achieving success.
We seek to find educators and community leaders who are willing to identify underprivileged students who have all that it takes to be successful if given a chance financially. We know that when the bridge connects economic and cultural divides, students can be empowered to do great things.
The APBF dream is to break the cycle of generational poverty and build strong bridges so that students can attain the strength and courage to become leaders in their families, communities, and beyond. In each of us is a unique calling that needs cultivating. We are all curious about our purpose and how it relates to our world. We want to make a difference and know that our lives count for something outside ourselves.
